Use a Windows or Mac computer with a current web browser, a reliable internet connection and speakers or headphones.
Devices and operating systems
We recommend a Windows or Mac computer. Android and iPad tablets can access most course content, but some features may be harder to use.
Software
We recommend using the latest versions of Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or Apple Safari web browsers available for your operating system.
Keep your browser up to date for compatibility and security.
Use speakers or headphones to listen to the presentations.
Handouts, reference lists and checklists are PDF files. You will need software that can open them.
Internet connection
Video quality adjusts to your connection speed. Faster connections provide a clearer picture, but playback also needs a reliable connection.
Our recommendations for video playback are:
- 0.5 Megabits per second - Minimum broadband connection speed
- 1.5 Megabits per second - Recommended broadband connection speed
- 3.0 Megabits per second - Recommended for high quality
- 5.0 Megabits per second - Recommended for best quality
If video playback stops, check your connection and whether other people are using it. Contact your internet provider if connection problems continue.
